David Ernest Greer, 86, of Mt. Sterling, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital Lexington.
Born Jan. 1, 1939, in Mt. Sterling, he was the son of the late James Ernest Greer and Lucille Christine Murphy. He attended First Church of God and retired from Rockwell International. He loved and cherished his grandkids, Camargo and UK basketball, playing cards and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Rose Greer; son, Greg Greer (Lee Etta) of Frenchburg; daughter, Shannon Patrick of Mt. Sterling; brother, Robert Greer (Diana) of Lexington; grandchildren, Hayden Holley, Landon Holley, Jordan Patrick (Tori), Kittie Perry (Jason) and Jenny Holland (Kelsey); and great-grandchildren, Paxton Patrick, Navy Patrick, Eadlyn Holland and Wrenley Rucker.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Mitchell Greer; and sister, Carolyn Ginter.
Service was conducted Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Estill Adkins officiating. Burial was in Machpelah Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jordan Patrick, Mike Ginter, Steve Ginter, Rob Ginter, Kelsey Holland, Jason Perry, Chandler Reynolds and Taylor Rucker.
Honorary pallbearers were Hayden Holley, Landon Holley, Tori Patrick, Jenny Holland, Kittie Perry, Wendell Frazier, Danny Parker and special friends.
