From Montgomery County Schools:
Montgomery County Schools announces the appointment of Whitney Lee as the next principal of Camargo Elementary School. She succeeds Dudley McKenna, who recently transitioned into a new leadership role with the Montgomery County Board of Education.
For Ms. Lee, this appointment represents a true full-circle moment. As a proud graduate of Montgomery County High School, her roots in the district run deep. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Campbellsville University, followed by a master’s degree and Educational Leadership certification from the University of the Cumberlands. Throughout her journey, she has remained deeply committed to serving the community that shaped her.
Ms. Lee spent 20 years serving the students and families of Mapleton Elementary School as a classroom teacher and behavioral interventionist. In 2024, she joined Camargo Elementary as assistant principal, where she quickly became a trusted and familiar presence among students, staff, and families.
Ms. Lee is a dedicated leader who has been an integral part of the Montgomery County Schools family for more than two decades,” said Dr. Stephanie Harris, incoming superintendent of Montgomery County Schools. “Throughout her exceptional career as a teacher, coach, and administrator, she has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our students’ success. As a lifelong resident, her unique connection to both the school and the surrounding community ensures she will lead Camargo with heart, vision, and local pride.”
Ms. Lee expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve a school community that already feels like home.
“I am incredibly honored and excited to serve as the next principal of Camargo Elementary,” said Ms. Lee. “This school holds a special place in my heart. I look forward to building on Camargo’s strong tradition of excellence, fostering meaningful relationships, and working alongside our dedicated staff and families to ensure every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.”
Ms. Lee’s journey from a Montgomery County student to a school leader is a powerful testament to the lasting impact of growing up, giving back and investing right here in her home community.
