Quarter-final voting is now under way in the America's Favorite Pet Contest.

Local shelter star Rambo has advanced to the quarter finals, but he needs your votes! He is currently in 11th place.

The competition, according to the AFP website, is down to the top 1 percent of all pets in the competition. The winner will appear on the cover of Modern Dog magazine.

Voting for semi-finalists ends Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. PST.

Your votes and donations for Rambo help support PAWS' mission to help cats, dogs and wild animals thrive in happy, healthy homes or in their natural habitats. If Rambo wins, the shelter would receive $10,000, which would go a long way in helping him and other animals like him get adopted!

Rambo, the Montgomery County Animal Shelter says, should be America’s favorite pet because he has been overlooked in a county shelter for more than a year! The shelter says he’s one of the sweetest dogs in the world, but people are intimated by his size. He loves getting kisses and being with people! He even gets afraid of dogs that are as small as 5 pounds! America’s Favorite Pet title would help him prove to the world that he’s so lovable, the shelter says.

Rambo loves his green lamb chop plush and his go-to treats are pork flavored bones! His smile lights up when he sees either one, and he loves seeing people come to his kennel!

America's Favorite Pet is an online voting contest hosted by celebrity couple Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg.

You can enter a free vote once each day and $1 for every vote after that. Donated money helps animals in need.

The Montgomery County Animal shelter is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. It is closed Wednesdays and Sundays.

The adoption fee for dogs is $150 and $75 for cats. Cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped and receive feline/rabies vaccinations.  Dogs are DAPP 1/rabies vaccinated, chipped, spayed/neutered and wormed.
