The Tribe Tri Kids Triathlon was held Saturday, June 20, at the aquatic center and Montgomery County High School/McNabb Middle campus.

Todd Coleman was behind the idea. Tribe Tri Kids Triathlon partnered with Mt. Sterling-Montgomery County Parks and Recreation on hosting the event. The school system permitted use of its property as well.

As part of this triathlon youths in different age groups had to swim, bike and run.

The 6-8 year old age group swam 50 yards, biked one mile and ran a half mile.

The 9-11 year old age group swam 100 yards, biked two miles and ran one mile.

The 12-14 year old age group swam 200 yards, biked three miles and ran 1.5 miles.

The age group was based on age as of Dec. 31, 2026.

Participants received a T-shirt if they registered by May 31, finisher medal for completion and other goodies with registration packet.

The first and second winner in each age group received a plaque.

Coleman has competed in three adult triathlons and previousy told the Advocate  he came up with the idea for the youth event to challenge his own children others.

Nearly 50 youths participated.
