Posted

Jeffery Wayne Toy, 65, of Mt. Sterling, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born Aug. 19, 1960, at Homestead Florida Air Force Base, he was the son of the late William and Bonnie Jean Hunt Toy. He had a deep love for helping people and his funny and kind spirit was contagious. Always smiling, with a joke at the ready, he brought joy to everyone who knew him.  His greatest love was his family.  He never missed a game or concert and instilled in his children a deep appreciation for both sports and music.  He passed along his love of rock ‘n’ roll, his talent for playing the drums, and his passion for the game of golf—traditions proudly carried on by his sons and grandson.  He loved watching Oklahoma Sooners football and UK basketball. He had an extraordinary gift for making people laugh, a talent that brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Cynthia Elaine Toy; three beloved sons, Nathan Wayne Toy of Sante Fe, N.M., Tony (Jessica) Toy and Luke (Ashleigh) Toy, both of Mt. Sterling; sister, Melody (David) Bush of Altus, Okla.; aunt, Linda Cassidy of Lexington; three beloved grandchildren, Madeline, Jack and Charlie; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Greg, Billy and Stevie Toy; and a sister, Gail Vance.

Celebration of life was conducted Friday, Jan. 30, at Mt. Sterling First Church of God.

Wayne repeatedly expressed his gratitude for the support and kindness of his family, friends, company and community over the past five months.  We are eternally thankful for the love and care each of you have provided during this time.
