FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (July 8, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of an upcoming lane closure on both the Eastbound and Westbound Interstate 64 in Bath County. Walker Construction will be closing the fast lane on both the I-64 Eastbound and Westbound lanes from mile points 123.00 to 129.00 in Bath County, on July 9, 2026. This full lane closure will remain in place throughout the entirety of the project, which is expected to last until approximately September 1, 2026. This will be for completing the remainder of the mainline paving and shouldering items on the project, along with concrete work associated with the KY 211 overpass. Work hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
Walker Construction will also be placing temporary concrete barrier walls at mile point 129.00 in the Eastbound direction of I-64 on July 9, 2026. This will be for restoration work on the Eastbound bridge passing over the Licking River. This bridge restoration work will take place until approximately August 7, 2026. Work hours for this are from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. There will be two nighttime deck pours which will be announced at a later time.
While concrete barrier walls are in place on the I-64 Licking River Bridge, all wide loads traveling Eastbound on I-64 will need to detour using the following route. Wide loads will be required to exit I-64 at the US 60 Owingsville (Exit 123) exit eastbound. Then turn East/ right onto US 60 and follow this route to the US 60 and KY 801 intersection. Then turn North/ left onto KY 801 and continue to the I-64 Eastbound on ramp.
Road work schedules may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
