Tenn. semi driver cited after I-64 incident Monday causes traffic backup

The driver of a semi from Caswell, Tenn., was cited Monday following an incident on Interstate 64.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Matthew Merando, 50, was operating a tractor-trailer on I-64 near the 105 mile marker when he was reportedly unable to navigate a lane with an oversized load. He was pulling a mobile home.

The incident caused a backup of traffic as the semi blocked the roadway in the construction zone, the sheriff's office shared on social media. Motorists were asked to detour by taking Exit 101, following U.S. 60and re-entering I-64 Eastbound at Exit 110.

Merando was cited for disregarding a traffic control device. Sheriff's Deputy Troyal Cox worked the accident.
