Sheriff releases additional details on arson incident

On January 25, 2026, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident in Jeffersonville, KY.

An 18-year-old male, Zachary Scott of Jeffersonville, assaulted residents of the home, destroyed property and set multiple fires inside the residence. Deputies were able to enter the home, extinguish the fires, and take the suspect into custody without incident. One deputy was treated on scene by Montgomery County Fire & EMS for minor injuries.

Scott has been charged with Arson 2nd Degree, Terroristic Threatening 3rd Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree Police Officer and Assault 4th Degree. He was transported to the Montgomery County Regional Jail. He is being held on a $25,000 bond.

We are thankful for the quick response of Fire & EMS and are grateful no serious injuries were reported.
