Shelter takes in 12 dogs and is 'beyond full,' urges public to consider adoption

This is Major, one of the shelter's beautiful long-term residents. He loves other dogs and being active!

Rubin is now officially the longest resident at the shelter. This sweet, fun boy is named Rubin and he believes every toy ever invented was made just for him. Tennis balls, squeaky toys, ropes, stuffies... you name it he LOVES it. We joke that he is a little hoarder because he always has to take a toy back to his kennel with him each time he comes out! Watching him play is pure entertainment, and he would love a home where he has his own toy box, all the toys and play time never stops. Playing with him is NOT a requirement! He loves to play by himself! He does need to be the only pet in the home so he can soak up all the attention (and collect all the toys (3), but what he gives back in love and personality is more than worth it. He is affectionate, goofy and will keep you smiling every single day. All of us at the shelter love him. We can't believe he is one of our longest residents. If you met him we are sure you would fall in love. He has no red flags. He is gentle, smart, and adorable! And a really happy dog. He REALLY deserves a home and family for himself! Come meet him and see for yourself how amazing Rubin is!

This is Iris. We thought she would be adopted so quickly because she is so cute and well behaved. But she has been with us several months now. Iris is a beautiful lab mix. She’s incredibly loving, great with other dogs, and has such a calm, easygoing personality that we believe she would do wonderfully with kids. Right now, Iris needs help. She has a condition called happy tail. That means her tail wags so hard when she’s happy (basically, whenever someone walks by) that she repeatedly injures the tip. In a shelter environment, this becomes a constant cycle. Her tail hits the kennel walls over and over, reopening wounds and making it nearly impossible for her to heal. We are doing everything we can for her, but the truth is… the shelter is the worst place for Iris to recover. What she truly needs is a calm space, room to move, and a loving home. Whether that’s a foster or, even better, her forever family. If you think you could be the right fit for Iris, or even open your home temporarily to help her heal until she can find her forever home, please reach out.

We have a very important story to share… and we are asking you to help us share it. Years ago, Oliver was adopted from our shelter and became someone’s whole world. But heartbreakingly, his owner recently passed away from cancer. Before he passed, he made sure Oliver would be cared for. He set aside money so Oliver could stay in a boarding facility while his family tried to find him a new home… because the one thing he didn’t want was for Oliver to ever end up back in a shelter. That fund is now gone. And Oliver still has nowhere to go. We cannot imagine the fear and confusion he must feel.. losing his person, his home, and now facing an uncertain future. This is not how his story is supposed to end. Oliver is neutered, housebroken, and good with kids. His adoption is fully sponsored. All he needs is someone willing to give him a second chance at love. We are asking for a miracle for Oliver. Please share his story. Please help us find the home his owner so desperately wanted for him. If you have any questions or think you could help, please reach out to us.

Bono has been in the shelter for 383 days… that’s over a full year. And in dog years, that’s like 7 years of waiting. Bono has watched 100s of other dogs leave before him and has spent over a year being overlooked… for no reason at all. Because Bono is a GOOD dog. He can sit, he has great manners, and he does well with other dogs (just no cats). He’s done everything right. And he’s still here. Today one of the volunteers took him out to the park for only a hour and it was so hard for them to bring him back. You can tell Bono is tired of the noise, the kennel, and the waiting. He just wants out. He just wants someone to give him a chance. Please come meet Bono. Give him the life he’s been waiting so patiently for!!!
