Born Nov. 13, 1925, in Pomeroy, Ohio, he was the son of the late Raymond Sr. and Nela Sanders Blake. He was a beloved husband and father, esteemed quality control manager and decorated World War II veteran who dedicated his life to his family, work and community.  Affectionately known as Ray, he retired from Hobart Manufacturing after a distinguished career.  He moved to Montgomery County 58 years ago from Columbus, Ohio, where he immersed himself in his new community, becoming a cherished member of Gateway Christian Church.  In the spirit of camaraderie and service, he proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps as a member of the 3rd Air Commandos.  His brave contributions during his time in the Philippines, Japan and Korea showcased not only his commitment to his country but also his resilience and spirit, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life.  His passions extended far beyond his professional achievements.  He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting duck and squirrel, reveling in the great outdoors.  Creativity flowed through him as a skilled carpenter and artist, with every project displaying his meticulous attention to detail and love for craftsmanship.  Above all, he will be remembered for his infectious humor and warm presence. “With a twinkle in his eye, his humored wit, he left a mark on all who ventured near.  He always gave life his best!”
