Garrett “Gary” Wayne Cannon, 79, of Paris, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, at Baptist Health Hospital, Lexington.
Born Sept. 13, 1945, in North Middletown, he was the son of the late Willie and Mattye Lee Chambers Cannon. He proudly served his country in the Air Force and Army Reserve working in communications. He worked many years at the Avon-Bluegrass Army Depot in telephone communications. Besides farming, he also was a volunteer fireman, a Bourbon County Constable, and member of the Masonic Lodge #23. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He dedicated his life to caring for his family and community.
Survivors include a brother, Keith (Paula) Cannon of Paris; two sisters, Judith Willene Cannon of Paris, Joyce Janelle Cannon of Paris; two nieces, Denise (Ryan) Donithan, Casey (Jose) Castro-Bracho; and two nephews, Garrett Allen Cannon and Clay Eric Cannon.
Celebration of life will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Herald and Stewart Chapel with Stephanie Moon officiating. Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Saturday. Full Military Rites by the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post 22.
