Nancy Parks Mayes, 69, of Means, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, at UK St. Claire Hospital in Morehead.
Born March 19, 1956, in Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Helen Trusty Parks. She was blessed with a large family and lived her life loving and caring for them. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and spoiling her grandchildren. She was an active, faithful member of the Freewill Pentecostal church.
Survivors include five daughters, Bonnie (George Cundiff) Mayes of Owingsville, Marsha (Lonnie Spence) Butler of Owingsville, Katie (Brandon Thompson) Mayes of Mt. Sterling, Stacey Mayes of Harlan and Casey (Phillip Wireman) Mayes of Means; 12 grandchildren, Kimberly, Danielle, Billy, George “Kenzie,” Michaela, Anna, Shelbi, Gabe, Bentley, Abby, Hayden and Carson; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty (Jess) Myers, Anita (Les) Notestine and Tonya (David) Shope; three brothers, George (Nancy) Parks, Fred (Dorothy) Parks and James (Eva) Parks; a sister-in-law, Brenda Parks; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Mayes; and a brother, Ronald Parks.
Service was conducted Friday, Sept. 19, at the Freewill Pentecostal church with Travis Parks and Chad Curran officiating. Burial was in Henderson-Parks Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
Pallbearers were Matthew Myers, Luke Myers, Preston Martin, Billy Cundiff, Kenzie Cundiff, Scotty Treadway, Bryson Robinson and Adam Myers.
Honorary pallbearers were Joe Myers, Brandon Thompson, Gabe Mayes, Bentley Mayes, Hayden Wireman, Carson Wireman, Wyatt Starck, Dale Myers and Joey Mullins.
