MSPD: This will be major snowstorm, urges public to stay off the roads

From the Mt. Sterling Police Dept:

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING UPCOMING WEATHER EVENT**

We want to inform the community on a couple of things, before this winter weather event takes place:

1.  Please park off the road, if possible, this will ensure that our Public Works Department can safely plow your streets!

 2.  If you are illegally parked, YOU WILL BE TOWED.  There are no exceptions to this and no warnings, once the snow starts falling. This includes, a yellow curb, no parking area, fire hydrant, or to close to the intersection (30 feet).

3. We will activate our winter weather emergency plan.  Follow social media and news outlets for the current status.  If we are in RED, travel is RESTRICTED TO EMERGENCIES ONLY!!!  We will assist in transporting essential workers (i.e... nurses, doctors, home health care workers), if needed.  We will also assist in picking up medicine for those who rely on it and are within the city limits.  We encourage everyone who falls into that category to get this done TODAY or early tomorrow morning!!! You can call (859) 498-8720 to inquire about this.

Lastly, we are pleading with the community to stay off the roads!  Our local, county, and state road departments will have their hands full.  They will be working non-stop and working to clear our streets.  Give them space and patience. This will be a major snowstorm, and everything is not going to be cleaned overnight.
