Posted

Montgomery County residents had another chance for free landfill disposal over the weekend.

A total of 171 residents brought in 53.35 tons of waste to the Montgomery County Landfill  Saturday, May 9, in the second of four annual free disposal days hosted by Rumpke Waste & Recycling.

Montgomery County residents have been able to dispose of 187.35 tons for free so far in 2026, according to a release.

“Rumpke is happy to offer this free disposal day as part of our decades-long partnership with Montgomery County,” said Kevin Hall, Rumpke communications coordinator. “This is a great way for residents to dispose of items that can’t be part of the regular curbside service offered in Montgomery County.”

Residents disposed of a total of 459.08 tons of waste at the four free days hosted by Rumpke in 2025.

Montgomery County Solid Waste Coordinator Donny Pennington assisted at the event. The free disposal days are collaborations between Rumpke and Montgomery County officials, including the judge-executive, fiscal court and solid waste dept.

The remaining two free disposal days will be later this year: Sep. 12 and Oct. 10.
