Mary Maxine Hughes Vice, 84, of Winchester, passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 23, 2026, at home.

Born Nov. 27, 1941, in Hazard, she was the daughter of the late Mann and Sitha Smith Hughes.  She worked many years for the Clark County Board of Education.  She was a member of the Mt. Zion Community Church.

Survivors include her loving husband, Arnold Lee Vice of Winchester; two daughters, Jenny (Tommy) Woods and Angie Vice, both of Mt. Sterling; son, Scott (Erika) Vice of Butler, Pa.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bessie Holley of Mt. Sterling; two brothers, Richard Hughes of Lexington and Billy Hughes of Nicholasville; several nieces and nephews; and special life-long friends, Billy & Evelyn Willoughby.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, Darrell, James, Don and Eddie Hughes; and six sisters, Joyce Grisby, Faye Greco, Emily Napier, Charlene Carroll, Gail Stone and Brenda Lee.

Service was conducted Monday, July 27 at Mt. Zion Community Church with Al Gwinn and Neil Salvaterra officiating.  Burial was in Clarmont Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Josh Woods, Andrew Woods, Evan Collins, Anthony Vice, Layton Profitt and Hudson Vice.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice East, 407 Shoppers Dr., Winchester, Ky., 40391.
