Loretta Highley, 99

Loretta Highley, 99, of Mt. Sterling, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, at her residence.

Born April 23, 1927 in Anderson, Ind., she was the daughter of the late C.G. and Laura Phillips Estes. She attended Owingsville First Church of God and was very involved with church and church activities.  She was also a member of the American Legion.  She enjoyed walking with friends, and reading, gardening and quilting were some of her passions.

Survivors include her son, Ron Highley of Mt. Sterling; sisters, Virginia Hughes of Mt. Sterling and Betty Rushford of Chattanooga, Tenn.; granddaughter, Tamara Maybry of Georgetown; and great-grandson, Ashton Maybry.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Highley; sons, Michael Highley and Robert Highley; brothers, J.B. Estes, Junior Estes, R. C. Estes, Thomas Estes and Wilburn Estes; and sisters, Ann Myers, Eura Lee Jones, Bobbie Hurst and Bonnie Toy.

Service was conducted Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.  Burial was in Machpelah Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Lee Jones, Tommy Orme, Danny Estes, Steve Orme and Ronnie Kratzer.
