As of 8 .a.m. this morning, Sheriff David Charles said there were no new issues from the winter weather.
The concern now will be frigid temperatures, he told the Advocate.
Charles also said "We have a great newspaper," adding he appreciated the Advocate keeping the public informed with updates throughout the storm.
Emergency Management Director Greg Beam said as of 8 a.m. today power outages remain at zero.
Montgomery County Judge-Executive Chris Haddix said the travel alert remains at orange. The public is asked to travel only for essential purposes as hazardous conditions will make travel difficult.
"Road crews are working but with the low temperatures that keep declining salt will not work. We ask that everyone continue to be patient with us while we work through this," Haddix told the Advocate.
The city of Mt. Sterling shared a video this morning of streets being plowed with this message : "Making slow and steady progress! That will be our goal over the next few days around our community. We appreciate everyone's patience as we work to get things back to normal. If you see an issue or have a concern, please don't hesitate to let us know. We know we have knocked over some mailboxes, we promise to get those fixed!"
Mayor Al Botts also shared this with the Advocate: "Just stay home if able to let us continue to work on streets, and be patient. We are doing everything we can to get things back to normal. We really appreciate all of the support we have been getting from everyone."
Local officials, road/street dept workers, law enforcement, etc., have been working around the clock during the storm.
