Joan Chandler Shepherd, 77

Joan Chandler Shepherd, 77, of Mt. Sterling, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, at home with her family around her.

Born May 17, 1948, in Mt. Sterling, she was the daughter of  the late Richard and Lula McLean Chandler Jr.   She was a member of the Reid Village Baptist church.  She was a loving wife, mother, mamaw, sister, aunt and friend to many.  She was known for her famous sourdough bread.   She dedicated her life to caring for her family and making memories that will be cherished for years.

Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, Craig Shepherd; two daughters, Rhonda Bennett of Frankfort and Kim (Brian) Creech of Mt. Sterling; four grandchildren, Aaron (Sumer) Woodward of Lawrenceburg, Chandler (Alize) Woodward of Nicholasville, Jeremiah Thompson of Richmond and Colten Creech of Mt. Sterling; seven great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Jaycee, Paisley, Landon, Noah, Hazel and Rory; four sisters, Sheila Wade, Phyllis (Alan) Justice, Teresa Chandler and Becky (Eddie) Vinson; brother, Tommy Chandler; two sisters-in-law, Pam (Carl) Abney and Tammy (John) Tapp; brother-in-law, Dale Shepherd; and several nephews and nieces and great-nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Doug Chandler and Jimmy Chandler; and a brother-in-law, Jeff Shepherd.

Service was conducted Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Reid Village Baptist Church with Pastor Todd Wiley and Pastor Glenn Sizemore officiating.  Burial was in Machpelah Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Aaron Woodward, Chandler Woodward, Jeremiah Thompson, Colten Creech,  Brian Creech and Tommy Woods.

Honorary pallbearers were nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations to be made to Reid Village Baptist Church, Hope Church of God or St. Claire U.K. Hospice.
