James “Jim” White Jackson Sr., 84, of Mt. Sterling, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 15, 2026.
Born Sept. 7, 1941, in Mt. Sterling, he was the son of the late James O. Jackson and Anne Eubank Jackson. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and community member whose life was marked by service, faith, and dedication to family. A graduate of Western Kentucky University, class of 1963, he was a member and president of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He went on to enjoy a long and successful career with IBM for over 41 years and several more years at SIS. He was deeply committed to his faith and his community. He was an active and dedicated member of Beargrass Christian Church, where he served in numerous roles over the years. He also gave generously of his time and leadership to the YMCA of Louisville, serving in various capacities, and to the Colon Cancer Prevention Project, serving as Board Chair. His commitment to heritage and history was reflected in his involvement with several genealogical and historical organizations, including the Sons of the American Revolution, First Families of Kentucky, and The Filson Club. He was also honored as a Kentucky Colonel. In his later years, he found his greatest happiness spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, spending time with friends in Louisville and Mt. Sterling, working at his farm in Mt. Sterling, relaxing with Kathyrn and their dogs at the beach house in Florida and remaining active in his church community. He will be remembered for his steady presence, deep sense of duty, and the love he shared with those around him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the community he helped strengthen.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Kathryn May Jackson. He was a proud father to his three sons, Dr. James “Jim” White Jackson Jr. (Michele), William “Bill” Jackson (Sarah) and John Jackson (Samaya). He was a loving grandfather to five grandchildren, Emily and Elizabeth Jackson (children of Jim), and Brooks, Shelby and Henrietta Jackson (children of Bill), all of whom brought him immense joy.

Service was conducted Friday, May 22 at Beargrass Christian Church. Burial was in Cave Hill Cemetery.
Pearson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
