Posted

James Clarence Wilson, 83, known to all as Jimmy, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born July 22, 1943, in Frankfort, he was the son of the late Charlie and Mary Wesley Carrington Wilson.  He was a lifelong resident of Mt. Sterling, where he built a life, career, and lasting connections within the community.  He was married to the love of his life, Connie Haddix Wilson, for 56 years, celebrating their anniversary this past July.  He was a member of the 1961 graduating class of Mt. Sterling High School, 1965 graduate of Morehead State University, and served in the United States Army Reserves before starting his professional career as a well known and respected accountant.  He retired from Weaver Corporation in Paris, in 1996 and continued his work as a self-employed accountant and business consultant in Mt. Sterling and throughout Central Kentucky.  He loved supporting and cheering for the University of Kentucky basketball and football teams as a past member of UK’s 101 Club. He also enjoyed cutting up and visiting with anyone who crossed his path, playing ping pong with friends, and was always willing to share his advice- if you knew Jimmy, his advice was usually pretty good! Above all, he was a genuinely giving person.  Whether sharing his time, knowledge, advice, or simply lending a helping hand, he had a selfless way of giving to others without hesitation. His generosity was not just something he did, it was simply who he was.  While he had many accomplishments throughout his life, his greatest pride and joy was his family.  He was a devoted husband, loving father, and the very best Pap to his three grandchildren. He treasured his family and took great joy in being involved in their lives and creating memories they will carry with them forever.  His grandchildren thought the world of him and the love they shared was something truly special.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Haddix Wilson; daughter, Amy Wilson Frazier, and her husband, Jeff Frazier of Mt, Sterling; son, James Andrew “Andy” Wilson, and his wife, Kaitlynn Wilson of Cerulean; three grandchildren, James Thomas “JT” Frazier and his wife, Abigail, Haddix Clare Wilson and Miller Thomas Wilson; sister, Janet Lykins of Mt. Sterling; sister-in-law, Sharon (Pete) Follett of Mt, Sterling; and sister-in-law, Nancy Wilson of Mt. Sterling.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold (Janet) Wilson and Donnie Wilson; sister, Doris (Paul) Baxter; and brother-in-law, Courtney Lykins.

He will be remembered for his remarkable knowledge, quick wit, willingness to lend advice, and, most of all, his generous heart.  He was loved by so many, and his presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he called home.

Service will be conducted at 12 noon, Friday, Nov. 6 at Taul Funeral Home with Chas Sargent officiating.  Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Thursday.  Burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gary Wilson, Grant Wilson, Chuck Lykins, Wesley Lykins, James Thomas “J.T.” Frazier and Miller Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jimmy’s honor to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 555 Prewitt Pk., Mt. Sterling, Ky., 40353.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Taul Funeral Home.
