Fire dept. offers heating tips, info on how it's preparing for storm

Posted

From MOCO Fire Dept:

We hope everyone is prepared for the weather event moving in tomorrow.

This is what we know: A large weather event with the possibility of double digit snowfall is possible across the county. There is a possibility of ice with this storm that could result in power outages. Dangerously cold air temps will remain for days.

This is what we are doing: We are working with city and county government to be as prepared as possible. We have increased staffing to ensure fire trucks, ambulances and all terain vehicles are staffed in case of emergency. We are here for you should an emergency arise. Be aware response times will be significantly impacted as road travel will become extremely dangerous.

This is what we need from you: Only call if a true emergency exists. When clearing driveways and sidewalks consider clearing around fire hydrants. In cases of fire, seconds matter.
If heating with space heaters ensure they are UL approved, have at least 3 feet of clearance, and never use an extension cord. If using kerosene or gas heaters make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector.
Check your smoke detectors today.

We are here for you and we will get through this together.
