Douglas Charles Gay, 63, of Jeffersonville, died Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born July 22, 1962, he was the son of the late David C. Gay and Dorothy Gay.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend whose kindness, humor and steady presence touched many lives.  He dedicated his life to serving others through his profession as a barber.  He cut hair in Bath County for 40 years and Montgomery County for four years, building friendships and earning the trust of generations of families.  Through the years, his chair became a place for conversation, laughter, advice and community.  Many who came to him for a haircut left as lifelong friends.  Outside of work, he enjoyed playing cards, fishing, gardening and riding his motorcycle.  He appreciated life’s simple pleasures and cherished the time he spent with family and friends.  He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for his family, his quick smile and the countless lives he touched throughout his years behind the barber’s chair.  His legacy lives on in the memories he created and the relationships he built.  He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his loving wife, Tina Gay; daughter, Tabitha (Brian) Sewell; son, Christopher (Brittany) Gay; and stepson, Nathan Brown.  He was a proud grandfather to Kiah Goodpaster, Lelia Sewell and Rylee Gay, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.  He is also survived by his brother, David (Cynthia) Gay; and nephew, Caleb Gay.

Service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 11, at Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Daulton officiating.  Burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery.  Visitation will be 12 noon-1 p.m., Thursday.
