David Paul Wheeler, 74, of Mt. Sterling, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 22, 2026, at home.
Born Sept. 12, 1951, in Mt. Sterling, he was the son of the late Lemon and Opal Richardson Wheeler. He was a car dealer for 49 years. He was an amazing father, papaw and brother. His passion was cars, as well as watching baseball, basketball and car races.
Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Newton of Mt. Sterling; son, David (Jayla) Wheeler II of Salt Lick; six grandchildren, Megan (Kyle) Smith, Kevin Lee Newton II, Jackson Wheeler, Emma Wheeler, Aubreigh Wheeler and Marleigh Wheeler; three great-grandchildren, Grayson Wheeler, Wyatt Smith and Caroline Smith; five sisters, Judy Thomas of Owingsville, Fern Woosley of Mt. Sterling, Kathy Toy of Owingsville, Brenda Stroub of Indiana and Linda Patton (Bobby Hudson) of Mt. Sterling; and two brothers, Johnny (Betty) Wheeler of Indiana and Tommy (Linda) Wheeler of Ohio.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Duke Wheeler; and three brothers, Chester Wheeler, Murrell Wheeler and Ronnie Wheeler.
Service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 26, at Herald and Stewart Home for Funerals. Visitation was 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Thomas, Chad Murphy, Richard Evans, Rodney Young, Zack Stroub and Billy Stull.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Newton, Paul Mansfield, Larry Reed, David Caywood, Ronnie Wheeler, Tom Murphy and Benny Helton.
