Daniel “Dan” James Freeman, 55, died Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in Lexington.
Born July 5, 1970, in Corning, N.Y., he was the son of Daniel M. and Sharon L. Freeman. He was a man of remarkable capability who dedicated his life to building—whether it was in his career or his many friendships. A proud 2004 graduate of Morehead State University, his academic excellence earned him induction into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. He translated that dedication into a distinguished career as a construction site manager. He was respected throughout the industry for his skill and leadership, overseeing projects ranging from high-end residential estates to the massive scale of city skyscrapers. To those who knew him best, he wasn’t just a site manager, he was the guy you called when you were in a bind. If your truck was stuck in the mud or your engine wouldn’t start, he was already on his way with a grin and a tow rope. He never hesitated to lend a hand or a tool to a friend or stranger alike. He lived for the simple joys, a crisp fall day hunting, the thrill of four-wheeling through the Kentucky woods, and every single snap of a Pittsburgh Steelers game. He had a soft spot for animals and was devoted not only to his own dogs but even to his sister’s cat. Above all, he was a steady, helping hand for his parents and sister.
In addition to his loving parents survivors include his sister, Robin Freeman.
He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and a helpful nature that will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
Service was conducted Wednesday, March 18 at Taul Funeral Homes.
Honorary pallbearers were Jason Chapman, Cain Wallace, Buddy Leach and Ethan Howell.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the ALS Association at www.als.org.
