Clairece Lacey Campbell, 86, of Mt. Sterling, died Monday, June 1, 2026, at her residence.
Born Dec. 17, 1939, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Beatrice Martin Combs. She attended Mt. Sterling Old Regular Baptist Church and retired from Hobart Manufacturing and A.O Smith as an administrative clerk.
Survivors include her sons, David Alan Campbell of Mt. Sterling and William R. “Randy” Campbell of Ashville, N.C.; a brother, James Combs (Pam) of Mt. Sterling; sisters-in-law, Mary Francis Ramey and Teresa Combs, both of Mt. Sterling; daughter-in-law, Dottie Campbell; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William David Campbell; son, Ben Campbell; brothers, Robert “Bob” Combs, Buford “Buddy” Combs and Charles Ray Combs; grandson, William David Campbell; and nephew, Derrick Ray Combs.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, June 5, at Mt. Sterling Old Regular Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Boggs, Bro. Darrell Kidd and Bro. Ralph Slone Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Johnnie Martin Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at Taul Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Combs, Justin Combs, Alec Combs, Chris Campbell, Anthony Combs and John Wright.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rhonda Tharpe, Gerald Tharpe, Dustin Back and Taylor Trimble.
The family would like to thank her caregivers for the last two years of care.
