Carolyn Mae Mansfield Conley, 86, departed this life peacefully, Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026.
Born Aug. 29, 1940, in Mt. Sterling, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Katherine Wood Mansfield. A devoted member of the Montgomery County community, her life was exemplified by her unwavering faith and generous spirit. She will be remembered fondly as a dedicated and active member of the Gateway Church of God, where she served for many years, taking part in various ministries. One of her cherished contributions was her heartfelt initiative of sending uplifting cards to others, spreading joy and encouragement wherever she could. Her kindness extended beyond her church community, touching the lives of many in Mt. Sterling and beyond. In her professional life, she retired after 27 years at Jockey International, where her reliability and work ethic were held in high regard. However, it was in her role as a wife and mother that she truly shone. She was married to Cordell “Cotton” Conley for 48 wonderful years, a partnership built on love, respect, and mutual support. A gifted cook, she was notorious for her delicious peach cobbler and Ale-8 cakes, often blessing her family and friends with her culinary creations. She cherished the simple pleasures of life, including trips to Gatlinburg with her sisters and enjoying quality time with her grandchildren, as well as babysitting her nieces and nephews during their formative years. A passionate UK basketball fan, she delighted in cheering for her team, sharing those moments with loved ones.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Cordell “Cotton” Conley; children, Michael Todd “Mike” Mansfield and Lisa Nelson (Lloyd); grandchildren, Paine Mansfield, Sarah Mansfield, Luke Nelson and Lauren Nelson; siblings, Doug Mansfield, Brenda Maloney (d. Jerry), Paul Mansfield (Beverly) and Teresa Mansfield Ovington (Daren); and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Judith Mansfield Bradley.
Her warm-hearted nature and joyful spirit will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love and encouragement will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Service was conducted Monday, Oct. 26 at Gateway Church of God with Pastor Tim Cole and Pastor Lowell Rice officiating. Burial in Machpelah Cemetery.
