Barbara Phillips Roberts, 77, of Oxford, Ala., died Monday, June 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was a woman of faith who trusted the Lord and lived with a gentle spirit and kind heart. She loved decorating, thrifting and finding a good deal. No matter the situation, she had a calming presence that brought comfort to those around her. She especially cherished the car rides and conversations she shared with her brother, Gary. Above all, she was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister and loyal friend whose love and kindness will be remembered by all who knew her.
Survivors include her daughter, Lora Roberts; brother, Gary Phillips (Stephanie); niece, Jodie Phillips; nephew, Jeffery Phillips (Carlie); great-nieces and nephews, Ashton Stovall, Adallyn Stovall, Jameson Cole, Summer and Harper Phillips; and special friends, Wanda Pettus, Connie Pollard, Megan Caulder, Danny Sprayberry (Amy), Linda Cassidy (Jerry), Ronnie Chapman and Missy Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James Edwin Roberts; parents, Cecil and Bessie Mae Phillips; sister, Verdie Couchman; and half-brother, Cecil Phillips Jr.
Celebration of life for Barbara Phillips Roberts and James Edwin Roberts was held Thursday, June 18, at Miller Funeral Home, Oxford, Ala., in the Toby Miller Chapel.
