The report of an alleged auto theft in Mt. Sterling led to the arrest of two people in Owingsville on drug charges Feb. 16, according to authorities.
The alleged theft occurred from the Days Inn, Mt. Sterling Police Chief Aaron Noel told the Advocate.
Darrell W. Everman, 56, and Sondra Frederick, 45, are both charged with first-degree, first offense, possession of a controlled substance, heroin; first-degree, first offense, possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a uniform citation filed by Owingsville Police, the agency was notified by Montgomery County Dispatch of the possible location of the allegedly stolen vehicle in Bath County.
A Bath County sheriff's deputy located the vehicle, a black GMC Sierra, at a home in Owingsville, the citation claims.
At the residence, the citation claims authorities made contact with Everman, who reportedly gave consent to search the home.
Once inside, the citation claims in plain view were allegedly used and unused needles on the kitchen table, as well as digital scales.
Frederick was reportedly located inside a bedroom, where the citation claims multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia, including spoons with residue, tourniquets, used needles and filters were allegedly located.
After obtaining a search warrant, suspected methamphetamine and heroin were allegedly located inside the home, the citation claims.
Det. Ashton Thornberry with the MSPD participated in the recovery of the vehicle, Noel said.
Noel said an indictment warrant will be sought for the individual who allegedly took the vehicle.
