Vaneesa Lynn Lee Martin, 64
November 11, 2024
Vaneesa Lynn Lee Martin, 64, beloved wife, mother, nana, daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend, unexpectedly passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024.
Born Dec. 22, 1959, to Kay Turley Lee and the late Larry Lee, she was a lifelong resident of Mt. Sterling and alumna of Montgomery County High School and Eastern Kentucky University. In 1979 she married Tim Martin of Winchester at Reid Village Baptist Church, and they shared 45 years of marriage centered around Christian faith, hard work, humility, and family love. Together they raised two children. Throughout her life, she had been an employee of Trojan, Inc. and Belk’s department store; and spent 22 years as an attendance director at Mapleton Elementary, serving the school until her retirement in 2014. She was known for her compassionate heart, kindness, creativity and work ethic. She spent her retirement making crafts, reading, and teaching her grandchildren. Above all, she loved Jesus Christ and lived her life for Him daily. His love and compassion radiated from her as family, friends, colleagues, and children she served could attest. Later in her life, she became a member of First Baptist Church Mt. Sterling, where she served faithfully in the children’s ministries.
In addition to her mother survivors include her husband, Tim; children, Adam (Emily) Martin and Erin (Turk) Windell; grandchildren, Colton, Riley, Harper, Croslee and Adalynn; sister, Lysandra (Artie) Amburgey; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
In honor of her humility, meekness and privacy, a private graveside service was conducted Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Funeral services in the care of Herald and Stewart Home For Funerals.
