School district releases statement on passing of elementary school student

Montgomery County Schools has shared the following:

Montgomery County Family,

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of one of our students from Northview Elementary School. This loss impacts Northview, McNabb, and MCHS and is felt deeply across our entire school community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family, friends, classmates, and teachers during this incredibly difficult time.

In response to this tragedy, Montgomery County Schools will have grief counselors and additional support staff available to provide assistance to students and staff. We encourage anyone who needs support to reach out—we are here for you.

We are a close-knit community, and in times like these, it is more important than ever to lean on one another. Together, we will honor this student’s memory and support one another with compassion and care.
