Danny Eugene Smallwood, 86

October 19, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Danny Eugene Smallwood, 86, a devoted member of Rolling Hills Church of Christ, who peacefully left this world Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024.
Born Sept. 11, 1938, in Frenchburg, he was the son of the late Tommy and Mary Hale Smallwood.  He cherished his roots and found joy in the simple pleasures of life.  Throughout his time on this earth, he wholeheartedly embraced the beauty of nature, often taking long walks to admire the world around him.  He possessed a knack for fixing things, finding solace in tinkering with vehicles and lawn mowers.  An avid reader of the Bible, he found peace and guidance within its pages, living each day with faith and kindness.  A lover of westerns, particularly Gunsmoke and Walker Texas Ranger, he found comfort in the familiar tales of the Old West. However, his greatest joy came from helping others, whether it be his neighbors or strangers in need. His generous spirit and compassionate nature touched all who knew him.  Above all, he treasured spending time with his daughter, Tammy Smallwood Imel (Tony Banfield); granddaughters, Summer Imel and Sierra Imel; sister, Edna Yocum; and a special son, Matthew Munday (Salena).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Congleton Smallwood; and siblings, Emert Smallwood, Eleanor Smallwood, Buck Smallwood, Robert Smallwood, Harley Smallwood, Richard Smallwood, May Sparks, Molly Peck, Hazel Hale and Nora Yocum.
Service was conducted Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Rolling Hills Church of Christ with Bro. Jerry Carmichael and Bro. Eddie Ingram officiating. Burial was in Machpelah Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Matthew Munday, Tony Banfield, Jacob Munday, Daniel Munday, Bill Peck and Rick Peck.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in Danny’s honor to the Rolling Hills Bible Camp, 125 Rolling Hills Dr., Mt. Sterling, Ky., 40353 and/or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, Md., 21741
In his memory, let us reflect on his legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering faith.  May his spirit continue to touch the lives of those he leaves behind, and may his memory be a guiding light in our hearts forevermore.
