Glenna Joyce Barnett, 75

Glenna Joyce Barnett, 75, a beloved member of the Mt. Sterling community, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital.
Born May 28, 1949, in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Neal Barnett.  She was a proud native of Montgomery County and lived her life with an unwavering spirit of kindness and compassion.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.  She dedicated over 23 years of her life to the Montgomery County Board of Education as an adult education instructor, where she helped countless individuals obtain their GEDs.  This role was not just a job for her, it was her passion and her proudest achievement.  Her generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand or a listening ear made a profound impact on her students and peers alike.  A graduate of Montgomery County High School, Class of 1967, she embraced her love for learning and her community throughout her life.  She also had a rewarding career with Calico and Whitt, where she worked for 14 years.  She was an active member of the Historical Society and Gateway Christian Church, embodying the spirit of service and dedication to her community.  In her free time she found joy in gardening and nurturing her beloved flowers, which reflected her vibrant personality.  An avid UK basketball fan, she brought enthusiasm and spirit to every game.  She was known for her radiant smile and her ability to express love to those around her, often reminding them, “I love you.”
Survivors include her nephews, Darvin Barnett, Scott Barnett, Steve Truskowski (Janet) and Donnie Manley; and nieces, Karen Stinson, Cathy Cox, Sharon Basey (Steve) and Angie Goodlett (Mike).
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her niece, Billye Ann Goldie; nephew, Marvin Barnett; siblings, Marvin Barnett, Leslie Barnett, Oneida Truskowski and Lorraine Manley Roberts.
In honor of her life, the family will hold a celebration of life that reflects her warmth and compassion. Details of the service will be communicated in the coming days. 
As we remember her, let us celebrate the light she brought into our lives, her unwavering dedication to education, and her boundless love for family and community.  She leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will forever inspire all who knew her.
