Obie Thomas Bowles, 75

Obie Thomas Bowles, affectionately known as Tommy, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025.
Born April 4, 1949, in Montgomery County, he was the son of the late Obie and Emma Bowles. He most recently lived in Paris. He dedicated over 50 years of his life to working as a truck driver. He was a kind-hearted man who loved his family tremendously and was known for his passion for cooking, canning, and gardening. His Christian faith guided his life, and his loving presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
For 42 years, he shared his life with his loving partner, Wanda Curtis. Survivors include two sons, Travis (Brandi) Bowles of Richmond and Chris (Susan) Bowles of Clay City; and two sisters, Velma Johnson and Nancy Jones, both of Mt. Sterling. He was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Bowles.
Service was conducted Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the Herald and Stewart Home for Funerals Chapel. Burial was in Machpelah Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ray Bowles, Mark Bowles, Billy Bowles, Tim Bowles, Michael Creech and Dale Lockett.
Honorary pallbearers were Neal Smits, Travis Smits, Rankin Hatfield, Tyler Box and Jim Winburn.
Arrangements are under the direction of Herald and Stewart Home for Funerals.
