Clyde Abner, 80
January 02, 2025
Clyde Abner, 80, of Mt. Sterling, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024.
Born June 27, 1944, he was the son of the late Joseph and Geneva Wooley Abner. He was a beloved father, proud veteran, and cherished member of his community. He proudly served in the United States Army, embodying the values of duty and honor throughout his life. After his military service, he dedicated 33 years to Rockwell International as a machine operator, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. A devoted member and deacon at Rolling Hills Church of Christ, he was deeply involved in his faith community. He was a warm-hearted soul who brightened the lives of those around him with his corny jokes, especially his beloved grandchildren, who cherished their time with him. His love extended to his greatest passions, tending to his potted flowers, celebrating with friends as a loyal UK basketball and Cincinnati Reds fan, and most importantly, nurturing the bonds of family that were central to his life.
Survivors include a son, Michael Abner (Rochelle); daughter, Christie Gasdorf (Brian); grandchildren, Jeremy Abner (Lindzie), Kara Abner (Jermaine Higgins), Alissa Abner (Scott Kenkel), Hannah Abner, Lily Sullivan (Gavin), Noah Duncan (Brandi), Sarah Gasdorf and Aiden Gasdorf; 10 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Burton Abner and Tracy Abner.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Napier Abner; and brothers, Lloyd Abner and Kenneth Abner.
Memorial service will be conducted at 12 noon, Friday, Jan. 3, at Rolling Hills Church of Christ with Jerry Carmichael officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m.-12 noon, Friday.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Clyde’s memory to the Rolling Hills Bible Camp, 125 Rolling Hills Dr., Mt. Sterling, Ky., 40353.
As we reflect on Clyde’s life, we remember a man who brought joy and love to all he encountered, whose laughter and kindness will be profoundly missed. His legacy will live on through the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
