Tax notice information
Tax notices have been mailed out. The sheriff’s office will have additional personnel in its front office to make payment more convenient. Starting in the second week of October the Jeffersonville Office will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to take payments as well.


Community Thanksgiving Dinner
The Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be served at the Montgomery County Health and Civic Center Thursday, Nov. 27. Deliveries will start at 10 a.m.; dine-in starts at 11 a.m.; and carry out will be 12:30 p.m.-1 p.m. or until food runs out. Limit two meals per person. Anyone wishing to help in any way can call Miranda Crouch at 859-274-2994. Workers and donations are needed. The event is sponsored by the Grace Communion-Mt. Sterling, in cooperation and with support of the Montgomery County Ministerial Association, local churches, businesses and individuals.

Free Expungement clinic
There will be a free expungement clinic 1-5:30 p.m. Nov. 6, at Sterling Crossroads, 103 Commonwealth Drive next to City National Bank and AT&T. This is in conjunction with the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet. For more information, call 859-274-4422 or visit www.sterlingcrossroads.org.


Democratic party meeting
The Montgomery County Democratic Party will hold its next monthly meeting Thursday, Nov. 6, from 7-8 p.m. at the civic center in downtown Mt. Sterling (108 E. Locust St.). “Meet and Greet” and sign-in is 6:45 p.m. prior to the meeting.


Wayne Toy benefit
Friends and family will host a benefit pulled pork dinner to benefit Wayne Toy 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the First Church of God Youth Center, 1051 Camargo Road.


Gateway Community Action
The Gateway Community Action Agency bi-monthly meeting will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Clark Energy Building, 28 Bible Camp Lane, in Frenchburg. The public is invited to attend. The bi-monthly board agenda may be viewed on the Gateway Community Action website, www.gatewaycaa.org, under the events tab.


Board of health meeting
The Montgomery County Board of Health will hold a regularly scheduled quarterly meeting 8 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, in the Lane Health Education Room at the Montgomery Health and Civic Center on Locust Street.


Pancakes for Paws
The Montgomery County Animal Shelter will host a Pancakes for Paws event 8-10 a.m. Dec. 6 at Applebee’s Restaurant. Tickets are $10 and includes three pancakes, two slices of bacon and drink. There will also be free photos with Santa and the Grinch and raffle entry. To purchase a ticket, contact Becky Carrillo at 606-359-2763. Tickets are also available at the door.


MSWS meetings
Mt. Sterling Water and Sewer announces the commission board has approved the change of monthly meetings to the third Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m. This meeting is open to the public. They are held at the MSWS office, 300 E. Main St.


Celebrate Recovery
Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered recovery program, meets every Monday night at 7 p.m. at Gateway Christian Church, 801 Winchester Road. For more information, call 859-498-3876.


WIC signups
The Montgomery County Health Dept. is now signing up WIC Program participants. The WIC Program is designed to serve certain categories of women (pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding), infants and children. Those enrolled receive healthy foods like milk, cheese, cereal and eggs. Many people who are eligible for WIC benefits do not realize they do qualify based on current household size and income guidelines. To see if you qualify or to sign up, call 859-498-3808. WIC is an equal opportunity provider.
