Panel named Northview Elementary principal


Montgomery County Schools has announced that Nick Pannell has been selected as the new principal of Northview Elementary. Currently the assistant principal at Mt. Sterling Elementary, Pannell has taught, coached and held administrative roles in Montgomery County Schools for the past 13 years.

“I am extremely blessed and honored to be named the principal at Northview Elementary. I love our community and the students that make us great,” Pannell said. “I am excited to lead Northview Elementary School during this transition period to even greater heights. We have the students, parents, teachers, staff and community to make Northview the best elementary school in the state.”

Pannell earned a Bachelor of Arts in art education before earning his Master in Arts and instructional leadership, supervisor of instruction and director of pupil personnel certifications from Morehead State University.
Matt Thompson, superintendent of Montgomery County Schools, said, “Nick’s leadership in Montgomery County as a teacher, head coach and administrator has been evident for all to see. His shared leadership style will allow the Northview Elementary staff, students and community to create their own identity while building on the legacy and excellence that made MCIS so successful.”

Northview Elementary will schedule a meet and greet at a later date to welcome Pannell. In addition to the meet and greet reception, Northview students and families are invited to attend the school’s back to school events. Preschool and kindergarten open house is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 9 while open house for grades 1-5 will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 13.
